Late Bloomin' Jazzman

“As a singer, Winkler is a storyteller, an avuncular presence who imparts a hard-earned wisdom: ‘I’m old enough/ Not to be fooled by the lights and the show/ But I’m young enough/ To know I don’t know all that much, don’t you know.’ Throughout this fine set, his voice is wry, unpretentious and warm. In short, he is a mensch — and splendid company.”

The Company I Keep

“Filled with one highlight after another, the album is a loving project with all the material chosen for its musical virtues as well as an emotional attachment that is highly personal to him.”
John Hoglund, Cabaret Scenes

West Coast Cool

“Sharper than a shark skin suit lapel, and swinging harder than a hammer thrower, singers Cheryl (Manhattan Transfer) Bentyne and Mark Winkler deliver a red hot tribute to West Coast Cool.”
George W. Harris, Jazz Weekly
